Favorite Dresses for Summer…

Summer is here, which means sun dress season is in full force! Wearing a dress is so effortless and I always feel more put together in a dress than in shorts and a tee. Whether its running errands, a trip to the farmers market, or dinner out with B, you can find me in a dress this summer!

I’ve rounded up my favorite dresses and accessorized them with the cutest handbags and sandals for all kinds of summer occasions and festivities! Enjoy…

Red Gingham | Embroidered Tunic | Denim Shirtdress | Green Eyelet |

Orange Tie Dress | Green Print | Lemon Print | Black Gingham

Wine Tasting — This ensemble would be perfect for an afternoon of wine tasting. A casual dress, comfy wedges, bold handbag, and rockin’ sunnies make this the ideal outfit for the vineyards. Don’t forget to pack a picnic basket — I love a good meat and cheese plate paired with fresh, seasonal fruit!

Going to a Museum — Whether its an exhibit on art, history, or science, I love exploring museums! An artsy tunic dress, low wedge espadrilles, and cross body bag make it easy to take in all the sights. Don’t forget a denim jacket for when the AC kicks on and if you’re on the hunt to find a new museum, be sure to check out this book.

Farmers’ Market — I love hitting up the Farmers’ Market on the weekends. A denim shirt dress is cool enough to wear outdoors and comfortable enough to walk around in to find a carton of free range, organic eggs. Pair it with a Panama hat, sneakers, and a large straw tote to carry all of the veggies and you’re set for a perfect morning. Don’t forget the SPF — this sunscreen smells amazing!

Baby Shower or Bridal Shower Guest — Baby showers and bridal showers are so much fun and are the perfect occasion to get a little dressy! This clover hued eyelet midi dress is a fabulous choice. Pair it with funky wrap sandals, tassel earrings, and a straw clutch and you are on your way to being quite the fashionable guest! Want to step outside your comfort zone a bit? Try a silk scarf tied around your neck!

Wedding Guest — Wedding season is upon us and this little dress is perfect for an outdoor wedding. Paired with blue accents (heels, bag, and earrings) for an unexpected twist, this ensemble will take you from a teary-eyed ceremony straight to the dance floor. Looking for the perfect shade of pink lip gloss? I received a tube of Winky Lux for Christmas and the formula uses your skins pH to create the perfect shade of pink for you!

Casual Friday — Sometimes jetting off to a tropical paradise isn’t practical or feasible. Use Casual Fridays as a way to take yourself on a much needed break. Pair this gorgeous printed dress with fun accessories (snakeskin printed pumps and tassel earrings) and don’t forget your blazer in case of a last minute meeting. Toss everything in your tote and let the countdown ’til 5 c’clock begin!

Date Night — I love dining alfresco and then taking a stroll with B in the summer. This lemon print dress is so cute and just needs sandals, a round straw purse, and a pair of yellow earrings to complete the look. I like to wear a different perfume on date nights and am currently obsessed with this scent.

Baseball Game — I love taking in a baseball game during the summer months. This gingham shirt dress is both lightweight and stylish. Tennis shoes and sunglasses are a must and a baseball hat for your favorite team is a given. If you’re a true fan, be sure to check out the MLB collection from Dooney and Bourke. Make sure you enjoy a hot dog and cracker jacks at the ball park!

Welcome to Depos and Demos…

Hi y’all! Welcome to Depos and Demos — my new blog site!

I am so excited to finally have a new website and get back to blogging, as I took a brief hiatus to spend time building this site. The tech-y side of things took a lot longer than I anticipated and there are still a few glitches to work out, but – ta-da – the site is more or less done!

As most of you know, my sister, Kir, and I used to blog together at Small Town Sisters. We started our blog in the summer of 2013 while I was waiting for my Texas bar results. We had a ton of fun together and really enjoyed having a shared venture.

While both of our lives became increasingly busier with each passing year, I found blogging as a creative outlet and stress reliever. I decided at the beginning of this year that I wanted to launch my own blog.

It took quite some time to come up with a name for my new blog, but in the end I decided to go with the first idea that popped in my head — Depos and Demos.

The name Depos and Demos plays into my current career and life goals — being a lawyer and remodeling houses.

Depos (or depositions) are where a lawyer asks a witness various questions to gather information from the witness and determines what will be said at the time of trial. The best depositions flow like a candid conversation, and that is my hope for this blog — to let my thoughts, ideas, and interactions with you, dear reader, flow smoothly, effortlessly, and much like a long chat with a good friend.

Demos (or demolition) are where walls are torn down, the old, broken, or unusable is discarded, and something beautiful and new is erected in its place. My favorite part of remodeling is a good before and after photo — I love to see the progress. My dream for this creative space is to document my own personal growth and progress, and encourage y’all to do the same.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and stay a bit!

Natural Bags for Summer….

Whether made from straw, rattan, or wicker, natural bags are all the rage this season! I had the cutest straw purse in high school and I totally wish I still had it!

I’ve rounded up six of my favorites! Enjoy!

From Left to Right: One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six

I love a good red, white, and blue ensemble, so I rounded up my favorite festive pieces to inspire your outfits for the holiday weekend! Enjoy!

Striped Tee | Red Shorts | Sunglasses | Off the Shoulder Tank

Wedges | Long Sleeve | Baseball Hat | Lobster Sweater

Diver Sweater | Red Dress | Scarf | Sneakers

Summer Bucket List…

Today is the first day of summer, although it has felt like summer for a while now in San Antonio. Summer is by far my favorite season — I love the weather, the clothes, the activities, the food! Gimme all the summer things!

While we’re keeping it pretty low key this summer because B is studying for the CA bar, I still wanted to make a little bucket list of fun things to do from June 20th until September 22nd.

  1. Cut my hair and go blonder — I’m so lazy and cheap when it comes to my hair and I have totally let myself go, so to speak. I’ve got to get myself to the salon and there is no better time to shorten my locks and go a little bit blonder than the summer time.
  2. Get a pedicure — I don’t get pedicures very often, because if I’m going to pay to have my nails done I would rather get a manicure. However, I don’t remember the last time I got a pedicure and my feet could definitely use a treat!
  3. Swim in the Ocean — I live in Santa Barbara 25% of the year and I very rarely actually get in the ocean! Gotta take a dip in the great Pacific.
  4. Go on a Hill Country Adventure — I really want to getaway to the Texas Hill Country for a weekend with B after he takes his exam.
  5. Go Apple Picking — This probably sounds like an autumn activity to most, but in Texas we pick our apples in July and August. I’ve been wanting to go to Love Creek Orchard for a few years now and I am hoping to make it happen this Summer.

Five Years of Happily Ever After…

Today is my and B’s five year wedding anniversary. In some ways it seems like just yesterday that we were reciting our vows to one another, and yet, it also feels as if we have been together for ever.

Marrying B was the best decision I have ever made. He is an incredible partner and there is no one else I would want to travel this life with.

Cheers to the next 50! 🙂

XO, Meg

Best of… Draper James

I’m back with a “Best Of…” post. This time I am featuring items from Reese Witherspoon’s fashion and lifestyle brand, Draper James.

Here are my favorites…

Are you a fan of Draper James?
