5 Ways to Show Self Love this Valentine’s Day…

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Whether you hate Feb 14th or relish in all things pink, glitter, and hearts (I’m in the latter camp), Valentine’s Day comes once every year!

You don’t need a significant other to enjoy the holiday. You don’t even need a fabulous group of girl friends and a “galentines” themed brunch. You just need yourself and the willingness to engage in a little self love.

Here are five ways to show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day.

1. Buy Yourself Flowers. I like fresh flowers year round and I have no shame in buying them for myself. Treat yourself to a big bouquet of your favorite flowers. Trader Joe’s is my favorite place for inexpensive blooms.

2. Take a Bath. Taking a bath is my favorite indulgence and I try to soak in the tub at least three nights a week. I am obsessed with Dr. Teal’s lavender epson salt soak. I usually light a bunch of tea light candles and turn on a show on my iPad.

3. Work it Out. Treat yourself to an extra long sweat sesh. Maybe try a class you’ve always wanted to try. I never regret going to the gym and I always feel great about myself after a workout.

4. Curl up with a Good Book. Grab your e-reader or head to the bookstore or library and pick out a good book. Kill two birds with one stone and read while you take a bubble bath.

5. Indulge in a Reasonable Splurge. Buy yourself the pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing or that super cute bag. A little (reasonable) splurge never hurt anyone!

Got any plans for Valentine’s Day?

Preconceived Notions…

I’ve had this preconceived notion for so long that if I was going to be a fashion blogger, which I so desperately wanted to be considered, then I had to have a fabulous wardrobe, I could only photograph perfect outfits, and I could only wear current clothes that could be emulated with the click of a link and a swipe of a credit card.

Earlier this week I was thinking about this blog and where I want to take it and I kept thinking about real fashion for real women. I kept coming back to this idea of shopping my closet and using what I currently have to create interesting outfits that could inspire others to use what they have in their own closets to create fun and fresh ensembles.

What does this all mean for Depos and Demos?

Well, for starters, you may have noticed on Insta Stories that I gave up shopping for six months! I won’t be buying any new clothes, shoes, or accessories until August 1, 2018. I am going to use what I’ve got and get creative with my clothes!

You’re also going to see a lot more outfit photos! I have been reluctant to post outfit photos in the past because I don’t have a professional photographer and last year my confidence was at an all time low. I feel like I’ve found my mojo again and I want to share real outfits that are relatable and make sense for real women with real lives.

So I am doing away with what I thought a fashion blogger was supposed to be… and I am just going to be me!

Happy 2018…

Happy New Year!

Sorry for the radio silence around here lately. December was far busier than I anticipated with work and this little blog definitely took a back seat.

2017 wasn’t my favorite year and I was more than happy to see it go. I have high hopes for 2018 and am looking forward to the clean slate that the new year brings.

One of my favorite things to do come the beginning of January is to write out my goals for the upcoming 365 days. Some of them I  meet, some of them I don’t — but I love the exercise of contemplating ways to better myself as a person. Here’s my plan for 2018.

Health & Wellness

Drink more water — I am terrible at drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water per day. I ordered myself a new water bottle hoping that might help.

Go to yoga once a week — I always feel so good after going to a yoga class, I really want to make it part of my weekly workout schedule.

Run a 1/2 marathon — I’ve completed three half marathons and I always feel like I am in the best shape of my life after months of hard training. I can’t wait to run another one in 2018!

Recycle — I just finished the book “Zero Waste Home” and I am inspired to recycle more and use less disposable products. We recycle large items (like cardboard boxes), but I want to be better about maximizing our recycling power.

Personal

Journal Everyday — I feel like this is on my list every year, but I do want to jot down memories so I can look back on them in years to come.

Read the Bible Everyday — I downloaded a Bible on my iPad that breaks down the Bible into a few chapters per day. It is really manageable and I am currently making my way through Genesis.

Encourage Other Women — I want to figure out a way to encourage the women in my life. I haven’t figured out what I am going to do yet, but I am looking forward to doing something!

Blog

Blog Three Times Per Week — I really want to turn my little corner of the web into something special, so I am going to put more emphasis into posting more quality content.

Holiday Gift Guide #4: Jet Setter

Happy Friday! I hope y’all had a wonderful week!

I had two days of continuing legal education this week and my brain is fried! I’m so exhausted and the fact that it starts to get dark at four o’clock does not help matters. The time change gets me every. single. year.

Can you believe it is December? Ready or not — there are only 24 days until Christmas Day! I’m back with another gift guide — this time I’ve rounded up gifts perfect for the jet setter! Enjoy!

Cork Globes — pin point all your favorite adventures on this adorable cork board globe.

111 Places to See in New York — I bought this book a few months ago and I love reading about all of the interesting places that are off the beaten path.

Travel Essential Oil Diffuser — I am obsessed with my essential oil diffuser. I love using the lavender oil before bed. Having one of these to take on trips would be amazing!

Travel Candles — I like to bring a travel candle with me when I am staying in a hotel room. Some hotel rooms have weird smells and it is nice to have a familiar scent when I am far from home.

Passport Cover — You can’t miss this bright passport cover in your purse next time you’re traveling overseas!

Suitcase — I have this carry-on and I love it! I’ve used it at least once a month for the past 3 years and it is still in amazing shape!

Travel Size Perfumes — I hate to check my luggage, so that means I need travel sizes of my favorite toiletries and cosmetics. Don’t lose your favorite perfume to TSA.

Coola Sunscreen Sample Set — This is my favorite sunscreen. Perfect for anyone on your list heading to a tropical locale in the upcoming months.

Travel Journal — I love journaling and having one specific for travels is a fabulous idea!
