Holiday Gift Guide #4: Jet Setter

Happy Friday! I hope y’all had a wonderful week!

I had two days of continuing legal education this week and my brain is fried! I’m so exhausted and the fact that it starts to get dark at four o’clock does not help matters. The time change gets me every. single. year.

Can you believe it is December? Ready or not — there are only 24 days until Christmas Day! I’m back with another gift guide — this time I’ve rounded up gifts perfect for the jet setter! Enjoy!

Cork Globes — pin point all your favorite adventures on this adorable cork board globe.

111 Places to See in New York — I bought this book a few months ago and I love reading about all of the interesting places that are off the beaten path.

Travel Essential Oil Diffuser — I am obsessed with my essential oil diffuser. I love using the lavender oil before bed. Having one of these to take on trips would be amazing!

Travel Candles — I like to bring a travel candle with me when I am staying in a hotel room. Some hotel rooms have weird smells and it is nice to have a familiar scent when I am far from home.

Passport Cover — You can’t miss this bright passport cover in your purse next time you’re traveling overseas!

Suitcase — I have this carry-on and I love it! I’ve used it at least once a month for the past 3 years and it is still in amazing shape!

Travel Size Perfumes — I hate to check my luggage, so that means I need travel sizes of my favorite toiletries and cosmetics. Don’t lose your favorite perfume to TSA.

Coola Sunscreen Sample Set — This is my favorite sunscreen. Perfect for anyone on your list heading to a tropical locale in the upcoming months.

Travel Journal — I love journaling and having one specific for travels is a fabulous idea!

Holiday Gift Guide #2: Hostess Gifts

Whenever I go to someone’s house for dinner or a party, I always try to bring a little something for the host or hostess. It takes a lot of effort to plan a nice event, even if it appears to be a casual soiree or the hostess seems stress free.

I’m heading to my sister’s house for Thanksgiving and you can be sure I’m packing an extra present or two for her! She makes hosting people look easy and always sets up an incredible breakfast spread each morning!

Here are some of my favorite gifts to give the gracious host or hostess…

One: Candle — This is my favorite candle of all time. It smells so good! You can’t go wrong with giving a candle!

Two: Monogrammed Throw — This is a beautiful blanket and would make a sweet gift.

Three: Cheese Labels — These are too cute! These would be perfect for anyone who loves to serve up a good cheese plate.

Four: Peppermint Bark — If you don’t know your host or hostess very well, you can’t go wrong with peppermint bark from Williams Sonoma. This stuff is so addictive — you’ll likely earn yourself an invitation to all future events!

Five: Door Mat — I love this cheeky doormat! This would make a great gift to the hostess with a sense of humor.

Six: Tea Towel — I love to pair tea towels with hand soap for a sweet and practical gift.

Seven: Marble and Wood Serving Tray — These serving boards make a great gift for the hostess who does a lot of entertaining.

Eight: Coasters — These coasters have cute sayings and tell your hostess that you’re not about to leave a ring on her coffee table!

Nine: Wine Bag (and of course, a bottle of wine!) — Wrap up your favorite bottle of wine in a chic wine bag. I like to gift wine from vineyards I have visited with a note telling the hostess about my trip to the winery and why I think they’ll love it too!

What do you like to bring the host or hostess? Chime in with a  comment below!

Holiday Gift Guide #1: My Wish List

Happy Saturday y’all! The weather has finally cooled off in San Antonio and it feels like fall has arrived. And that cooler weather means Christmas is just around the corner — only 44 days away! Sometimes picking out the perfect Christmas gift can be really stressful, which is why I’ve got 25 days of gift guides coming your way to give you lots of ideas!

I’m kicking off the gift guides with my own wish list! Making my list made me feel like a kid again with the toy catalogue and a magic marker. This year’s list ranges from a cute, french bulldog mug to a beautiful pair of high heels, and everything in between. My list from last year included a French Bulldog that looks an awful lot like Fred! 🙂

What’s on your wish list?

One: Gray Coat — I’ve had my eye on this coat for quite some time. The only problem is — I don’t get to wear a coat very often in San Antonio — which is why it is on my wish list and not in my closet.

Two: French Bulldog Watch — I love all things Kate Spade and French Bulldogs and this watch is too cute!

Three: Heels — I wear heels everyday to work, so I am always searching for a new pair to add to the collection. This t-strap pair is both sophisticated and fun — perfect for the office and dinner after work.

Four: Candle Holder — Chip and Jo’s line Hearth and Hand hit Target earlier this week and I can’t stop thinking about this candle holder. The little box on the bottom opens up and seasonal decor can be added and changed out.

Five: Leopard Vest — I actually splurged and ordered this vest for myself! It was too beautiful to pass up and will go with everything this holiday season.

Six: French Bulldog Beanie — Can it get any cuter? I would wear this little hat on my morning walks with Fred!

Seven: French Bulldog Mug — Have you caught on to the theme yet? These mugs are wonderful quality and the little painted puppy on the front makes it extra special!

Eight: Productivity Planner — I’ve read so many good things about this planner and I am wanting to try it ASAP! It is a journal/planner/to-do list! I’m all about getting stuff done, so this would make a great gift for me!

Nine: Perfume Sampler — I love Tocca perfumes and I tend to gravitate towards smaller sized bottles, because I can never make up my mind well enough to splurge on a big bottle!

Happy Holidays!

Five Ways to Support a Small Business this Holiday Season…

Can you believe it is November 1st? Time is flying by — and — believe it or not — Christmas is only 55 days away!

I love supporting small businesses throughout the year and the holidays are no exception. To me, giving and receiving gifts from small businesses always seem more personable and meaningful than big box store gifts.

When it comes to shopping small and local, you’ve got to be organized — handcrafted and/or personalized gifts take time to make, so ordering close to Christmas and paying for overnight shipping are not even options, which is why I’m posting this now.

If you’re interested in supporting small businesses this holiday season, here are my top five ways to do so:

1. Etsy

Etsy is a great place to search for handmade items. My favorite gift giving items are jewelry, soap, and scarves. But did you also know that Etsy is a great place to buy holiday gifts bags, gifts tags, and Christmas cards. I’ve had nothing positive experiences shopping on Etsy — plus my mom has a yarn shop if you’re a knitter (shameless plug!)

2. Local Businesses in your Area

Think of your favorite places to go in your town. One of mine is my favorite coffee shop, Local Coffee. I’ve got a few coffee lovers on my gift list, so a bag of my favorite coffee beans is the perfect gift.

If you’re attending a holiday party, forego buying desert at the grocery store and pick up those to-die-for cupcakes from your favorite bakery.

3. Holiday Craft Fairs and Farmers Markets

Lots of towns and cities have holiday craft bazaars where you can find beautifully handcrafted items and holiday decor. I have had great luck finding gifts at my local farmer’s market — soaps, soup making kits, chocolates, and salsas all make great gifts and stocking stuffers. If you’re in the San Antonio area, I would highly recommend checking out the Pearl Farmers Market.

4. Multi-Level Marketing

I’m sure you have a friend or two who sells products for a multi-level marketing company (i.e.: Avon, Mary Kay, Jamberry, Scentsy, Thirty-One, etc). If you like the products and have someone on your list who would enjoy the product, consider buying through your friend.

5. Shop Affiliate Links

Bloggers, like myself, make money through affiliate links. The affiliate network I use pays me about five cents per click, other affiliate networks pay out a percentage of sales. Either way, if a blogger posts something you like, shop her links and/or save the post for later when you’re ready to shop. I’m going to be posting tons of gift guides over the next few weeks, as will tons of other bloggers, so feel free to click away! This is a great way to support a small business when you’re ordering online!

Happy Halloween…

Happy Halloween, y’all! What are you doing tonight?

Fred and I will be passing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos. No doubt Hubby will lock himself in his office — he hates Halloween. I ordered Fred the cutest bowtie to wear tonight. Fingers crossed he’ll keep it on. I’ll be posting stories of our Halloween this evening on Instagram. If you don’t follow me, (what are you waiting for, lady?) I am @MeaganMarold

In case you’re staying in and you don’t have a ton of trick-or-treaters, here are some great fall staples you can stock up on while you drown your sorrows in that bowl of candy… 😉 Gimme all the Reese’s.

This Faux Fur Leopard Vest is on the top of my Christmas Wish List!

A Ruffle Shoulder Sweater is too sweet to pass up!

Cocoon Coat is the perfect cold weather staple!

An oversized, lemon hued Boyfriend Sweater will brighten up any cloudy days ahead!

My favorite thing to wear this time of year is a Quilted Down Vest

I’m loving this French Bulldog Watch, Beanie, and Handbag!

These Booties are calling my name and are perfect for those of us that live in warmer climates. Ahem, San Antonio!

The sleeves on this Sweater are out of control cool!

Hope you have a wonderful (& safe) Halloween!

Celebrate Fall with Etsy

It finally feels like Fall in San Antonio! I’ve got a festive candle burning and mini pumpkins galore! I love the chill in the morning air when I take Fred for a walk before work and I can’t wait to see the little trick or treaters at my door on Halloween night! Autumn is a beautiful season and we are fully embracing it in our house!

One of my favorite places to look for festive decor is Etsy. There are so many creative people on the site, selling their handcrafted goods! It truly is the worlds largest craft fair!

Sweater Weather…

It has been warm again in San Antonio — not exactly sweater weather. So, I am vicariously living through everyone who actually gets to enjoy real fall.

When the weather finally decides to chill (literally) I can’t wait to wear a cozy sweater, comfy jeans, and boots. Until then, I’ll wear sleeveless tops, shorts, and a bead of sweat…

I rounded up my favorite sweaters of the season! Enjoy!
