Travel Diaries: Washington DC — The White House and the Washington Monument

Our recent trip to Washington DC was so much fun! (You can read about our trip to the Supreme Court here!) The city is is so robust and has an energy unlike any other place I have been.

One of the things I loved about our trip was not having to worry about renting a car. We took a taxi from the airport to our hotel and then we either walked everywhere or took the Metro, which was super easy to navigate.

We stayed at the Washington Plaza Hotel, which is central to so many of the tourist spots that we visited.

On our first afternoon in DC we took a two hour Segway Tour with Capital City Segway Tours. The tour was really fun, our guide was knowledgable, and it was great because our group only had six people in it.

This was such a neat way to see the city and kind of get our bearings about where everything was located. I highly recommend taking a Segway Tour in any city where you are vacationing to get a quick lay of the land and see a lot of places in a short amount of time.

It was fun cruising by the White House and snapping fun touristy photos!

Riding a Segway for two hours is surprisingly tiring and my feet were quite sore after our ride!

While it didn’t rain on our tour, the storm clouds were rolling in and we had thunderstorms for the rest of the night!
This last photo was taken from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, looking towards the reflective pool and the Washington Monument.

I have one last installment of D.C. photos that I’ll be posting later this week.

XOXO
Meg
