Hi y’all! Welcome to Depos and Demos — my new blog site!
I am so excited to finally have a new website and get back to blogging, as I took a brief hiatus to spend time building this site. The tech-y side of things took a lot longer than I anticipated and there are still a few glitches to work out, but – ta-da – the site is more or less done!
As most of you know, my sister, Kir, and I used to blog together at Small Town Sisters. We started our blog in the summer of 2013 while I was waiting for my Texas bar results. We had a ton of fun together and really enjoyed having a shared venture.
While both of our lives became increasingly busier with each passing year, I found blogging as a creative outlet and stress reliever. I decided at the beginning of this year that I wanted to launch my own blog.
It took quite some time to come up with a name for my new blog, but in the end I decided to go with the first idea that popped in my head — Depos and Demos.
The name Depos and Demos plays into my current career and life goals — being a lawyer and remodeling houses.
Depos (or depositions) are where a lawyer asks a witness various questions to gather information from the witness and determines what will be said at the time of trial. The best depositions flow like a candid conversation, and that is my hope for this blog — to let my thoughts, ideas, and interactions with you, dear reader, flow smoothly, effortlessly, and much like a long chat with a good friend.
Demos (or demolition) are where walls are torn down, the old, broken, or unusable is discarded, and something beautiful and new is erected in its place. My favorite part of remodeling is a good before and after photo — I love to see the progress. My dream for this creative space is to document my own personal growth and progress, and encourage y’all to do the same.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee and stay a bit!
